12. IN TWO MINDS (3:45 Barnett)
Idly picking the first two chords of a Leonard Cohen song led me off on a musical tangent. Using the common Am G F E chord sequence I've been wary of it becoming a subconscious rip-off of a thousand other tunes. Although the chords and melody came quite easily, the fret fingering is teetering on the brink of my abilities so I experimented to see if I could come up with a different melody to exactly the same chords. Whistling the tune gave it a jaunty air and I worked out the new tune on piano. Although quite different, to my mind the two parts work like mood changes in a unified piece. (But I could be fooling myself!)
